

“We have set up the outdoors like a carnival,” she said. McKee said their hope is for everyone to have an opportunity to venture out to the event and get a chance to enjoy their home, the outdoor activities and help them raise funds for the local organizations. We are all animal lovers and really look forward to giving back to them.”

Also the SPCA is another big thing for us. We are paid volunteers, but those funds are going directly to the Salvation Army to help support them and their needs this holiday season. We love helping our campers in their endeavors.”īyrd continued be saying that all of the volunteers who were there representing Camp Gladiator were being paid, but they all agreed to give that money right back to the two organizations. “Helping Sandra particularly, because she is one of our campers. “We absolutely love giving back to our community,” Byrd said referencing Camp Gladiator as a whole. She said it's her desire to always be in a position to give back to the community and assisting the McKees has been an excellent way of going about doing so. Teaming up once again with the McKees to help raise funds for the organizations was Renee Byrd of Camp Gladiator. While taking a glimpse at the outside of the mansion, Patrick said, “You guys have done a fantastic job,” directing his comments to the McKees. Making his way from the front entrance to an autograph booth, Patrick signed autographs and chatted with fans of all ages. The people in the crowd were all abuzz and making comments such as, “I can't believe we're in the same place as Eddie Munster,” “Oh my goodness it's really him,” “This is amazing to have a chance to see him in person.” And as soon as he exited the vehicle camera flashes were going off left and right. When Patrick's limousine arrive on the grounds, the crowd went wild. This year, to the delight of the crowd, was Butch Patrick who starred as Eddic Munster. “We enjoy it so much.”Īlso, each year, they try to have at least one star from the original show attend the event. “Every year we have the people come out and we get to see the little kids smiling” she said. She said they have enjoyed every minute of it. “It's all the young kids now understanding what the Munsters are that makes this so special.”įor the past 10 years the McKees have invested money trying to make the experience as real for the visitors as possible. “It's no longer us older people who grew up with it that love it anymore,” she said. She said one of the great things about the event is the fact that they get to introduce the Munsters to children. “And in the process we can raise funds for wonderful charities.” “This event to me means family, friends and fun,” she said. McKee expressed how much this event means to her and her husband as she addressed the importance of it. Look at all the people here,” she said, pointing to the large crowd in the yard of their home on Farm-to-Market 813 just outside the Waxahachie city limits. “But that didn't stop the people from coming out. “I didn't even realize that this was homecoming weekend for Waxahachie,” McKee said. However, this year the McKee’s chose to add an additional charity to sponsor and other proceeds will go to benefit the Waxahachie Salvation Army.Īs the event got underway Friday night, McKee said she was thrilled with the turn out considering it was homecoming weekend. The two-day event features an inside look at the mansion and goes to benefit the Ellis County SPCA.
